Obviously, and with good reason, the economic crisis is on a lot of our minds. But I was wondering how many of us it has affected on a personal level thus far.
Obviously, even those of us with extremely secure jobs will end up feeling the effects of an economic collapse, if only through secondary problems like more difficulty getting college loans for our kids or increased crime in our cities. And also, clearly many of the future effects of the crisis are unknown and unknowable. Could even people like school teachers (often thought to be an extremely secure profession) end up in trouble if states go bankrupt and default on pensions? And at this point, even predictable future consequences--like laying off of retail sales workers--may not have made their way down the pipeline.
With all those disclaimers in place, I'm just wondering at this point in time what the general status of the people who frequent this site is with respect to the economic crisis.
Have you already been affected? Have you not yet but you feel the hammer may fall at any moment? Are you safe for now but possibly in trouble in the long-term?
